Captured
At twenty-three, Lillian is almost an old maid. After two small scandals in her past, Lillian's father has chosen a husband for her, but she's determined to live her life the way she chooses. Her latest plan will cause an even bigger scandal, ruining her reputation forever - using the new technology of the Kodak film, she takes a series of erotic photographs of herself and sends them to the aristocratic English portrait photographer Alexander 'Zander' Darian, a man she's desired for years.
Zander is intrigued when he receives a Kodak roll in the post along with a mysterious note. He develops the pictures and is stunned and aroused by the images, recognising Lillian at once. Long ago, he was a friend of Lillian's elder brother Curtis, but after an innocent incident when Lillian was fifteen, the friendship was severed and Lillian's father, a powerful banker, did his best to block Zander from entering Boston high society.
As soon as he receives Lillian's photographs, Zander is determined to respond to her blatant invitation. Lillian might only be using him to free herself from the straight-laced confines of society, but for Zander it's a second chance to win back the girl he's always loved...
Wow! This is an incredible read, captivating from the first page to the last. I couldn't put it down, not even to answer the phone. Lillian is a determined, sparky heroine who knows her own mind - and body - yet longs to share both with the man she loves. Zander is passionate, inventive and protective, the perfect hero. The gentle humour, authentic voice and period details bring this story vividly to life. The love scenes are superb, especially with the additional frisson of the camera's voyuerism. I loved Captured and will be looking for more books by Anna J. Evans - this one's a keeper and a Recommended Read.
