Eve of Darkness
What if your first sinful, sexual encounter with a man when you were a teen could lead to you later being marked for life and required to serve as a kind of bounty hunter for God? Evangeline Hollis never imagined the one indiscretion as a teen with the man she has never forgotten, Alex Cain, would mean that 10 years later she would be tagged by his brother Reed Abel and forced to fight demons or die! She is now one of the marked, sinner's curse by the Mark of Cain and required to serve off their sentence with service to God for centuries, if they live that long. Unfortunately for Eve, no one seems to want to wait around until she can train for this job, so from the beginning she is fighting just to stay alive while her powers are still developing.

Eve of Darkness is the first book of this fascinating new trilogy. I loved the character of Eve. She is spunky, bright, and very mad about unfairly being manipulated into this position. She is just as attracted to Cain as she was as a teenager, but she has no intention of letting him in on that secret. Abel sets her heart beating a little too fast also, but she is mad at him! The one thing Eve will not tolerate is being the bone between these two fiercely competitive brothers. Beside it takes every thing Eve has just to stay alive while she is trying to learn what she needs to do in this new "job" and how to use the new powers that come with the position. I found the whole premise of this new trilogy, that sinners can be marked and must serve God killing off demons and other things that are evil, to be delightfully fresh and even humorous in parts. Yes, you have to have a kind of sick sense of humor to get the gallows humor but it appeals to me! I can't wait to see what will happen in the next two books. This is a fantastic start for a debut series!
