Stallion of Ash and Flame
On an earth, where any number of aliens from outer space, Inner Earth and other dimensions vie with each other and with Earth's Shadow Government, everyday life runs from the benevolent to the downright weird. Amidst threats from a host of enemies, Seneca and stallion shapeshifter Drojovv are determined to save his world's crucial portal to Earth from the fires ravaging the National Forest near Seneca's ranch. To accomplish this, he and Seneca must get back the powerful ancient amulets the aliens and their human lackeys have stolen from her.
Drojovv has been in stud-lust for the beautiful red-haired Seneca since assuming the persona of a handsome half-breed Apache tracker named Trail and settling into the small Southeastern Arizona town near Seneca's ranch. Trail moons over her from afar until her brother is hurt in a motorcycle accident, and she needs to hire on help. Before long, the pair are embroiled in a battle against the aliens who plan to rape Earth of its gold and are determined to abduct Seneca. Because only she can touch the amulets, the aliens plan to use her to accomplish their nefarious plans. It's up to Trail to keep her safe and out of alien hands, even if it means secretly mating her, a prospect that appeals to him more than it should. He isn't supposed to take an Earth woman as his mate, but when both his world and hers depend on her abilities, he has no choice, even it means that he might never be able to go home again.
Whew! What an overwhelming story! You name the group, and their fingers are in the pot, to the point of confusion. There are so many aliens, hybrid human-aliens and unscrupulous humans running around in this book, it often boggles the mind. And Trail! Superman has nothing on this sexy shapeshifter. This guy can do anything! He can shift into a flesh and blood stallion and then into a stallion of fire or ash. He can psi-read minds, read vibrations, astral project, brain-scramble his enemies, suck up fire, fry electronics, start vehicles without keys and on and on and on. You name it, he can do it!
Frankly, this book reminds me of the 1930s Buck Rogers serials with a good bit Saturday night Syfy thrown in for good measure. Although I found the story, with its intense barrage of imagery and overabundance of bad guys, a bit too busy for my taste,Savanna Kougar fans will find it a wonderfully scorching hot read that definitely rates 5 Angels. In typical Kougar form, the plot is rich in detail, original and imaginative. The main characters are well developed, often amusing and very likeable. All you Kougar fans are in for a treat with this one, so buy and enjoy.
