A Rose Among the Ruins
Comrades-in-Arms Rhicer and Kanath are escorting a Mordyn princess to their prince. An important assignment can lead to peace after a long, hard war. Kanath believes they should begin the celebrations early, and what they thought to be a simple bottle of wine is in reality a love potion. Same sex-relationships are frowned upon, and the participants are usually punished severely. However, the men discover that the potion may have inspired their turbulent feelings, but their deep friendship is what allows their love to grow.

A Rose Among the Ruins takes us on a journey of discovery with two strong men who never thought loving another man could be an enjoyable experience. Rhicer is somewhat older, and definitely wiser. He has earned his position with his king and is an honorable man emotionally scarred from the war and how it has affected those he loves. Kanath has moved up in rank quickly, and while he has proven he deserves his station, he still has a mysterious side that lands him in trouble. The two make a great team and have a passion that ignites the pages. Ariel Tachna's setting, plot, and characters are brilliantly written, drawing me into the era and holding my senses captive until the very end. I couldn't help but enjoy this tale.
