Hide Out
Officer Peter Giordano has been given the task of keeping Trevor Haas safe and alive until he can testify against a murderer. His plan is to hide out in the small town of Honeysuckle fixing up a house he has bought and posing as a happily married couple. But, small towns have their own secrets and the two men find themselves in the middle of a murder investigation after a neighbor is murdered. Pete and Trevor have to keep their cover from being blown and keep Trevor alive while trying to get to the bottom of the neighbor's murder. To further complicate things Peter and Trevor have gone from pretending to be a couple to being lovers, and Pete will do everything in his power to keep Trevor, the man he is coming to love, from being harmed.
I could not put this book down; I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I eagerly devoured page after page of action, suspense, and hot man-on-man action. Trevor/Joey and Pete are two very, very, very sexy men. Whenever I'm asked to explain why I love this genre I always try to explain how I love the interplay between the characters. It's the struggle against the stereotypical masculine role in a relationship and society, how each man must come to accept themselves and their own desires as opposed to the expectations placed on them by others. But, my favorites of the genre are when both men are perceived by those not in the know as virile, strong, and very masculine but inside the relationship there is the tenderness, passion, and love as well as the roughness and almost violent desire that the men are free to express. After all who could know better what feels good than one of your kind? I think whenever I'm asked that question from now on I will recommend that they read Hide Out. Ms. Allen has written a story in Hide Out that explains everything I want to say and captures exactly what I love about this genre. I can't wait for her next offering and hope that we get to see Trevor, Pete, Wash and Rhodes again, as well as keeping my fingers crossed that a certain "Sheriff Hotness" will be making a return appearance, perhaps in a starring role! Hide Out is an action packed adventure ride that left me begging for more!
