Long Time Gone
Everyone makes mistakes and Erik Toleffson is no exception. As a part of rebuilding his life, he moves to Konigsburg, TX hoping to rebuild the relationship with his brothers he so badly damaged while they were growing up. Becoming the Chief of Police was the last thing he thought would happen. So was finding a girlfriend, lover, or wife...until he laid eyes on Morgan Barrett.
Morgan was living in Konigsburg to run the family winery while her father was recovering from an accident. Each day is an uphill battle as she tries to convince her father and his partner that she has the brains to put Cedar Creek Winery on the map. The last battle she expected to fight was over her life and for a very sexy Chief.
Long Time Gone by Meg Benjamin is book four of her Konigsburg series. Each book is about a different Toleffson brother. Erik is the oldest and grew up making his brothers' lives hell. It is evident that he is working through personal demons of his own when he spots Morgan. From the first moment they met the sparks fly and I knew instantly they would get along famously. Morgan is like many women. She starts off hesitant of herself and of Erik. She is unsure of who he really is. Erik starts off, and pretty much stays, in the mindset that it couldn't possibly be him Morgan wants. Being elected Chief of Police was a miracle in itself, but to fall in love with a wonderful woman? There's no way Erik could believe both are happening to him. Mrs. Benjamin's words drew me in and I felt connected to Erik and Morgan. I loved this book and would recommend it to any reader who loves sparks and happy ends. I will be looking for more of Mrs. Benjamin's works.
