When one of Jack Fletcher's nanoelectromechanical system experiments explodes, thanks to his sister, they are both sent to another world. Jack has always been a steampunk fan, and waking up in this world is nothing but exciting to him. Add in the lovely Captain Octavia Pye, and Jack couldn't be happier. After an unfortunate series of events, Jack has to figure out how to save his sister from the gallows, keep from being arrested, and figure out a way to get Octavia to admit that she loves him.

Steamed is a fun ride from start to finish! It was great learning about this new world along with Jack, and there is non-stop action the whole way. It was also a very comforting read, I couldn't wait to be able to curl up with it and it was hard to put down. The only thing that bothered me was I felt like I never really knew either Octavia or Jack. They didn't feel as solid to me as the world around them, and it kept me from caring for them as much as I could have. I found myself much more interested in secondary characters, who played only minor roles. They are the ones I hope there will be more books about. Another thing, I never really understood Octavia's motives. I wasn't quite sure of why she was doing anything that she did. I still highly enjoyed Steamed, and I would be very happy if there are more books to come. Katie MacAlister has been a favorite of mine for years, and Steamed just reminded me why.
