Necessary Madness
Kyle has been plagued by visions for as long as he can remember. He's also been in and out of psychiatric treatment for what seems like an eternity. No one believes that he is telling the truth and he's been labeled as schizophrenic.
But there is one person that believes Kyle. Rob has seen firsthand what the gift can do to people and he's bound and determined not to get close to another with the "gift", he doesn't think he would survive losing anyone else that he cares about, and Kyle is someone Rob feels that he could quickly come to love.
I really thought the blurb for Necessary Madness sounded intriguing and for the most part I was not disappointed. The only truly negative thing I can say is more a matter of personal taste rather than something the author did or did not do with the storyline. There were a couple of explicit scenes that just didn't jibe with me. They took me completely out of the story and that frustrated me. The writing was solid and the plot fast paced. I hate to admit it but the villain of this one was probably my favorite character. That's not something that happens very often for me so kudos to Lisabet Sarai for writing a villain so captivating. I liked Kyle and felt his pain and struggles with his "gift". Rob was my least favorite character but he did redeem himself for this reader by the end of the story. I can see lots of potential storylines coming out of this world and hope that Lisabet Sarai will follow up on them. I would love to return someday soon.
