Beyond the Code of Conduct
In the second book about the crime fighting Sullivan family, Special Agent Bobbie Leighton is sent undercover with inactive Homicide Detective Joe Sullivan to pose as a wealthy Texas cattleman and his wife in an attempt to infiltrate a black-market baby trafficking organization. Bobbie and Joe have a history from the first book in the series and didn't end on a good note, and now being forced to work together is bringing back the memories, good and bad. Can they put aside their personal issues long enough to bring down the Sterling operation or will they become the next victims?

I loved Bobbie's character in the first book and hated the things that happened that torpedoed Joe and Bobbie's budding romance. It has now been a couple of years, and Bobbie has found her nitch as an FBI agent. Joe on the other hand has gone from a homicide detective to a man feeling sorry for himself. Joe blames his career ending injuries on Bobbie. Bobbie does a good job of carrying some of the guilt herself, but she has sought a solution by working to put away criminals like the one that tried to kill them. Doesn't sound like much to work with to build a romance, does it? But there once was something very special, and it wasn't just a chemical attraction to one another. And spending time with one another is bring those feeling back to the forefront. But the timing is bad; they have a job to do and a bad guy to stop before he stops them! Again Ms. Daughters delivers an excellent romantic suspense story about the some of six children of a retired police commissioner who have all dedicated their lives to stopping criminals. I can't wait to see who is up next in book three.
