Lift Me Up
Lift Me Up by Rayne Auster is a homoerotic contemporary romance.
Avery can't believe what he just saw! His best friend Kayden grabbed some drunken woman into the elevator with them and proceeded to have sex with her in front of Avery, knowing that Avery is gay scarring him for life. To make it even worse, Avery knows that this is the end of their friendship. To say that Avery over reacts is an understatement! Poor Avery is so shocked by what he has seen that he falls to the floor in front of his apartment door. Avery's lack of luck continues when his new neighbor Dylan trips over him, but then again his luck might just be changing. When Avery finally takes a good look at Dylan, he likes what he sees and to Avery that means his imagination about what he wants to do to Dylan runs wild. Dylan's friend Michael informs Avery that he will have to go to the hospital, but as usual nothing is easy with Avery when he informs them that the only way he will make it through a surgical procedure is with a bottle of vodka. This is just a taste of the wacky situations that Avery, Dylan, and Michael will find themselves in. Will Avery find a way to overcome his aversion to the elevator in his apartment complex? Will Dylan and Avery find their way towards each other? What other madcap adventures will Avery get Dylan involved it?
Ms. Auster has created a crazy plot line written in the first person with plenty of personal thoughts as Avery's life unfolds. Avery's life is one nutty problem after another as he discusses why he does the things he does, for the enjoyment of the reader. I loved how he rationalizes how he responds, causing many of his own problems. His clumsy actions endear him to the reader as he enthralls Dylan to him. Dylan doesn't know what hit him from the start, but is more then willing to go along as long as he gets what he wants and that is Avery. If you are looking for a funny, ridiculous, and heart warming story than this is a must to add to your book shelf. Thanks go to Ms. Auster for a fun and loving story.
