Ray Justice always thought his father had died when he was three years old. So you can imagine his shock when he gets a phone call saying his father died just days before and left him the family ranch. When Ray gets to his father's lifelong home he discovers a ranch full of people who have become a family. Exactly what Ray always wanted. But life is never perfect, as Ray soon discovers, and neither is his father. Ray also meets Deacon, a man he discovers he could quickly fall for if he let himself.

Another series by Carol Lynne is always a good thing! Based on Reining in the Past, the Saddle Up and Ride series is going to be so much fun to read. The family atmosphere on the ranch is very apparent throughout the novel. This makes the entire story that much more appealing. I felt like I got to know Ray really well and wanted only good things for him. The twists and turns with the dead father kept me turning the page to be sure. The only constructive criticism I have is I wanted to get to know Deacon a little better. I'm definitely buying book two in the Saddle Up and Ride series, though. Carol Lynne's are always a must read!
