What do you want for Christmas? Well, for Malcolm Rowland it certainly isn't a cheating boyfriend. But that is exactly what he gets when he sees Jordan at the restaurant where his best friend Dusty works, holding hands with another man. Malcolm finds out that his perfect relationship isn't so perfect after all. Good thing his long time friend Dustin gives him a place to stay and a shoulder to cry on. Malcolm also finds out that sometimes the best gifts are unexpected.

You simply can't go wrong with Shawn Lane! She can certainly tell a good story with fully developed characters. This writing trait seems to come naturally to Ms. Lane. Malcolm and Dusty are no exception to this rule, neither is the cheating boyfriend. The cheating boyfriend, Jordan, is definitely someone you almost love to hate right from the beginning. But the way he is written, the reader knows exactly what kind of person he is when first meeting him. Malcolm and Dusty you will fall in love with, however. I found myself half expecting Jordan to do something crazy and stalker-ish. Maybe if the story was a bit longer he would have. But The Best Gift is exactly what a reader would want for a happy holiday!
