Pleasure and Purpose
There are five principles of the Order of Solace. They are:
There is no greater pleasure than providing absolute solace.
True patience is its own reward.
A Flower is made more beautiful by its thorns.
Selfish is the heart that thinks first of itself.
Women we begin and women we shall end.
Edward is plagued with nightmares of a horrible sexual act that happened to him when he was younger. Since then Edward has not been able to clear his conscience. When Stillness from the Order of Solace shows up at Edward's door, he avoids her for fear that if he touches her, he won't be able to control himself. Can Stillness help Edward find the peace he so desires?
Prince Cillian is a childhood friend of Edward's. He likes to dominate both men and women. When Cillian meets Stillness and sees how she makes Edward satisfied, he requests a handmaiden of his own. Cillian experiences a dose of honesty when his handmaiden, Honesty arrives. She is nothing like Stillness. Cillian will learn that Honesty is exactly what he needs.
Finally, there is Alaric. He is also a childhood friend of both Edward's and Cillian's. Alaric's heart has recently been broken by a woman. Since then, all Alaric does is drink himself into a stupor. When Determinata appears, Alaric has no desire for her. In fact, it was Edward and Cillian who requested a handmaiden for Alaric. Can Determinata save Alaric from himself?
Pleasure and Purpose is an Order of Solace novel. I like how this book had three separate stories but how they all intertwined to make one complete novel. Author Megan Hart knows how to crank up the heat from warm to hot fast. Each man reacted differently to their handmaidens, but each one ended with the same results finding solace at long last. I liked all the handmaidens from Stillness' gentle nature, Honesty's abruptness, and Determinata's determination to not give up. All these women did follow and obey the five principles of the Order of Solace. I hope to meet more of the handmaidens of the Order of Solace.
