Angel and the Lawman
Alexandra O'Shay Wild is starting over. Travelling by train from Boston to Oklahoma City, where she hopes to find her father, she meets Marshal James Black as well as Rachel Cooper and her two children. When outlaws board the train, Alex assists the Marshal in driving off the outlaws. Over the remaining journey, Alex and Rachel quickly become fast friends. Upon arrival in Oklahoma City, Jim escorts Alex from the train to the Travellers' Hotel, her father's last known address. Before long, Alex needs to call upon all her wits, and the support of Jim to handle the sometimes harsh realities of the West, whilst making a new life for herself.
Looking for an escape from the holiday hubbub, I loaded up Angel and the Lawman and transported myself back to 1875. I am glad I did; what a treat. Angel and the Lawman was fabulous! I loved the characters, the setting and Barbara W Starmer's writing style. Set primarily in Oklahoma City, but encompassing other parts of the West, Alex's tale was thoroughly entertaining and, it seemed to me, very authentic. Angel and the Lawman is a sweeping story with many facets; sometimes just exploring the relationships between the characters, at other times dramatic and exciting. The characters and the settings were so clearly described, I almost felt like I was watching a movie. (It would make a great movie!) I was so engrossed in the story that I didn't want it to end. All good things must come to an end, but I know I will be rereading Angel and the Lawman. I look forward to reading more of this author's work, and I'm delighted to bestow upon Barbara W Starmer's Angel and the Lawman Fallen Angel Reviews' highest honour: 5 Angels and a Recommended Read! Don't miss it!
