Winter Solstice
Psychologist Destiny Walker takes shelter from a thunderstorm beneath the awning of a psychic's shop. As her grandmother, who died a year ago, was a firm believer in fate, Destiny decides to go inside. The psychic, Madame Anna, seems to have been waiting for her, and tells Destiny that today-the winter solstice-is an auspicious day for her. Destiny is a logical, sensible woman, but when Madame Anna tells her exactly the same things Destiny's grandmother did before she died, Destiny gets freaked out. She rushes onto the street and bumps into a gorgeous man, Reece Kellan, who invites her for coffee.
Destiny can smell the scent of lilacs, her grandmother's favourite. She likes the look of Reece, and soon they're back at his place. But things are moving too fast, and there's something weird going on, and Destiny runs away. Her car breaks down and so she's forced to go back to Reece. This time they talk and discover an amazing connection-their grandmothers lived in the same village in Ireland and were best friends. Not only that, the two women had vowed to unite their families. Will Destiny and Reece accept their fate?
Winter Solstice is a short, hot read with two characters who, despite being thinly-drawn, managed to make me care about them. There's not much plot to this story-everything takes place within the day of the winter solstice-and yet Eden Bradley's fine writing makes the 'soul mate' trope realistic and believable. The love scenes form the bulk of the story and are very hot and romantic, so if you're looking for a quick but satisfying erotic read, Winter Solstice is for you!
