Cruentus Dragons 2: Blood Bought
Finally after six months of unbearable suffering caused by the absence of his runaway mate, Cruentus clan healer, Jonah Genjhury, has found his Athena. It took the intervention of a mysterious Djinn to get it done, but Jonah is in such physically debilitating misery that he'd take help anywhere he could get it, even from one of the enemy.
Wall-street whiz, Athena Xanthopoulos had the Dragon "thing" shoved down her throat so fast and so traumatically six months ago, beginning at the rehearsal of what was supposed to have been her wedding, that she just can't accept an eternity bonded to one of those blood-sucking beasts. Sure, Jonah is sexy as all-get-out in his human form, and she wants him much more than she ever did her fiancée. Granted he'd tried to kill her, but it was all because of that mating call thing that was tormenting them both. He didn't love her, and darn it, she wanted love in the mix!
When the Djinn king plots to kill Athena, flying Dragon Air quickly becomes preferable to eating one of those blue balls of energy the Djinn threw around so indiscriminately. Athena might want to make her own choice as to whom she spends eternity with, but it quickly becomes apparent that she really doesn't have any choice in the matter. Her very life hangs in the balance. Besides, who said Jonah didn't love her?
Filled with smoldering eroticism and enough action to keep the reader turning pages, Cruentus Dragons 2: Blood Bought by Brynn Paulin is a perfect one-sitting read. The deliciously dark plot carried over from book one flows smoothly, and the incredible chemistry between the two main characters nearly singes the pages. I absolutely loved the scene in the car trunk!
Athena is sassy, opinionated and passionate, whether spitting and clawing like a wild cat or moaning and gasping in the throes of sexual pleasure. And of course, Jonah is just the man to give her pleasure. A take command kind of guy, he knows that a challenging, hot-blooded woman like Athena is just the woman for him.
This book contains graphic language, explicit intimacy and mild BDSM. It can be read as a stand-alone, but since much more understanding of dragon nature and the mating call can be found in book one, Dragon's Blood, I recommend reading it first for continuity. Hopefully, there will be several more books in this series. Ms. Paulin dropped names in this one for at least two more.
