Mind Killer
Mind Killer by Esther Mitchell is the second book in the Underground series.
Tamia "Blade" Kuan is presently on the inactive list which is driving her crazy. Tamia worked as a ground trouper in the Divide conflict seeing things that would incapacitate most people. Her recent transfer to the Commandos, an independent and elite undercover group, gave her the two things she wanted most: the love of her life Rick, and the return to the work she found most fulfilling. Unfortunately, it also resulted in her present injury, but the lives she possibly saved make it a small price to pay. The information Tamia uncovered added more questions and upped the danger level. As each member digs deeper, the frightened picture begins to unfold leading them possibly to questions that could cause the start of another war on the scale of the Divide. The possibility of weaponry, thermal, chemical, biological, and the cloned soldiers become a possibility, to the horror of the team. With determination and trepidation, the Commandos risk everything to try and stop the upcoming conflict. The love between Tamia and Rick becomes strained as work, and the rules of the corp threaten their lives. Will the Commandos succeed and at what cost? Can Tamia and Rick's love survive?
Ms. Mitchell continues her fast paced, futuristic series with this block buster of a story. The love that Tamia feels for Rick is at odds with the rules of the corp causing her great conflict; which will she choose the love of her life or service to her country? This is something many people in the military face everyday as they place their lives on the line for others. Each member of the commandos adds their own unique character and position to the group; one loss could break the careful balance of the team. The description and horrors of war all carefully portrayed as is the dedication of the man and women of the armed forces who are prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice for their country, to save lives just like the Commandos do each day. I will be waiting for the next book in the Underground series.
