Red Shadow
Red Shadow by Lynne Connolly is the third book in the Ecstasy in Red series.

Johann along with his friends are members of STORM, a group dedicated to protecting the rights of a talents, who are individuals with paranormal abilities who live among humans. Dr. Bennett was working for the government until he went rogue and he will get what he wants and murder isn't beyond him. STORM is trying to find Dr. Bennett and the whereabouts of his hidden labs where his people will perform whatever tests on any Talents that they have captured. Johann is on assignment at a charity auction targeting one woman, Jeanine, to hopefully find a lead to Bennett. Johann sees the cutest woman, Ania, dressed as a maid in uniform, but before he could approach her sees Jeanine who offers him what ever he wants if the price is right. Ania is undercover to try and find out what is really going on with her company, Simply Service, who are working as the waitstaff. Ania has been away for months, but when she returned something didn't look right. She recognizes the hotel owner, Chase Maynord, who is also a member of STORM. Johann comes to Anai's rescue after she dropped a tray to keep Chase from recognizing her. Ania is shocked when she learns that Johann is a talent, but the attraction is stronger than her reservations leaving them with a night to remember of erotic bliss. Unfortunately, the next day things begin to spiral out of control when Ania is grabbed causing Johann to loose control allowing all to see that he is a vampire. Ania is horrified, much to Johann's dismay. Will Ania and Johann find a way to overcome their differences? Will STORM finally achieve their goal of taking down Dr. Bennett and his horrible Laboratories?

Ms. Connolly has continued her incredible series with this action paced story. The visual descriptions of the Talents and their abilities bring them to life for the reader. The prejudice that normal humans show the talents is easily understood today. People look at differences they don't understand as abnormal, weird, and unacceptable, similar to how the talents are treated. If people would just accept the differences in each other the world would be a better place. The initial attraction between Anai and Johann ends in a very combustible erotic scene. Dr. Bennett is one scary character who with his lack of morals represents people who will go to any measures for what they want without any guilt. It was sad to see all the people who were willing to accept Dr. Bennett's ideals and not think for themselves. I will be waiting for the next installment of the Ecstasy in Red series.
