Seb's Surrender by Carol Lynne is the second book in her Bodyguards in Love series.

Jared Grant has had a tough life living through a terrible childhood, and then sexually abused by a guard Rick,while in a mental institution where he met his best friend Briar. When Briar found Jared he was living in terror under their abuser, until Briar, with the help of The Three Partners Protection agency, helped Jared get away and put Rick in jail. Jared finally has a place of his own and a job. Maybe not the greatest job, but one he is determined to excel at. One night Jared is walking to work late at night when Seb, one of the specialists at work, sees him. Seb has never had any ties or close relationships, and he likes it that way. The only problem is that Seb can't get Jared off of his mind. Seb knows what it is like to have nothing. He has been there before, and he is determined to find a way to help Jared. Seb knows that Jared doesn't have any clothing and no coat to speak of, so he says he went to a thrift shop to get some clothing and picked up a few things for Jared, including a red coat that he loved at first glance. Jared begins to get letters from his old enemy Rick. Is Jared safe even with Rick in jail? Things come to a head when Jared gets attacked, and Seb realizes that he has to get off of the fence and decide what he really wants. What will Seb decide about his feelings for Jared?

Ms. Lynne continues her series Bodyguards in Love with characters who come to life before the reader's eyes. Jared's past was horrible, but somehow he overcame his past and maintained his beautiful and loving personality. Jared has a complex past and personality that is inspiring as the story unfolded. It was beautiful to watch as Jared and Seb slowly opened to each other with trust and love. I enjoy how characters from the earlier book are continued and developed in the next book in the series. I loved watching as Jared's personality and trust emerged in spite of the terrible past he endured. I will be waiting for the next installment in the Bodyguards in Love series.
