Carly has wanted Jace for years. Not only that, but she's lusted after his dominant ways as well. They've been friends since they were young, and their friendship has only grown stronger. She doesn't want to destroy that friendship, but she also knows she's got to take a risk. So she sets up a night of seduction. At first startled, he finally gives in to her and gives her a night to remember, vanilla style. He doesn't want to give her the rough loving he's used to, but still gives her continuous pleasure. Not that she's complaining. Much. But she wants it all from him. Not knowing what to do, she avoids him for a couple of weeks, until he corners her at a party. She finally tells him what she really wanted from him, but insists she'll be fine and then walks away. Will they be able to regain the friendship that rests on tenuous footing? Or will their lifelong friendship be lost forever?

This story, albeit brief, is a serious heart wrencher. Having loved Jace for so long, not even knowing it was love, Carly took a serious risk exposing herself to him. When he held back from her, I could feel her pain viscerally. The embarrassment she felt, and the inability to process what to do now that her moment was over was also palpable. Jace was a delicious hero. A little clueless at first, but understandable since his mind was firmly programmed into friend mode, it was difficult for him to switch tracks. But when he did, did the sparks ever fly! If that's what friends are for, we could all use a friend like Jace in our lives.

Although this is the first story that I've read by Jessica Jarman I know this won't be the last. In fact, I can't wait to pick up any of the other half dozen stories she's also written and dive in for some sensual reading entertainment.
