Ashe Carver is a monster slayer. Of course, it comes as no surprise as the Carver sisters are very famous slayers. Ashe turned her back on slaying when she realized that gaining custody of her ten year old daughter, Eden was more important than demons. When you are a Carver, you can never stay away from monsters for very long. Ashe's brother in law asks for her help with some monsters. What Ashe gets is more than she bargains for.

Captain Reynard's job is paroling a supernatural prison. When Reynard meets Ashe, he is mesmerized by her beauty. Reynard needs Ashe's help. Someone has stolen his soul. If Reynard does not get his soul back soon, he will perish forever.

Unchained is the third Dark Forgotten novel. It can be read as a stand alone novel. Each book features a different Carver sister. I have enjoyed every one of these books thus far. Ashe may be a librarian now but she still can kick some demon behind and take names. Reynard pairs nicely with Ashe. They work well together. Ashe and Reynard's relationship was kind of like Buffy and Angel's from the Vampire Slayer. Unchained is just how I like my urban fantasy novels...dark, compelling and a whole lot of butt whooping!
