Heart of the Mountain: A Loving Hart
For seven years Jasper Elliot believed that his brother had left him behind to live in their horrible home. And then a man shows up and explains to Jasper why his brother left and that he has never forgotten him. Jasper makes a split-second decision that changes his life in ways he never imagined possible.
Sure, he expected to feel free and safe on the ranch, it's one of the reasons he agreed to come. What he didn't expect was Seth Hart, the owner of the Heart of the Mountain. Something about the man draws Jasper like a magnet and he finds himself unable to stay away, even when Seth tries everything he can to keep Jasper from getting to close.
A Loving Hart is the second book in the Heart of the Mountain series. It picks up where When a Bluebird Calls ended, only the focus of this story is on Jasper and Seth. I really liked A Loving Hart, I thought the story was well written and the characters were likeable and engaging from the start. Seth's secret was pretty spectacular and the lengths and sacrifices he made to keep it were heart wrenching. I just wanted to snuggle up to the poor dear and hold him tight until Jasper could get there to save him. What I found particularly ingenious of Mr. Dale was how Jasper is the younger man, he's gone through his own share of heartache and trouble and is only now finding peace, and yet he often felt like the elder in the relationship. It may have been just my read of the situation but Seth felt so fragile to me and Jasper seemed to be the stronger of the two. I loved the paranormal element to the story and I love, love, love that there appears to be another romance in the works based on a plot arc. I really hope it's true and we get another taste of the Heart of the Mountain ranch and the tasty men that skillfully rope in our hearts!
