Man and Wolf
When Rob Nichols brings his poisoned dog into the Lake Park Veterinary Hospital he is desperate for help. Bella is all Rob has in a world where no one can be trusted. Rob has a secret that has to be hidden at all costs and that leads to a lonely life.
Veterinarian Jamie Bretton has everything a man could want in life except someone to share it with. When the desperate Rob shows up at his clinic begging for help he doesn't understand why he is so drawn to the man, but he is and Jamie finds himself doing everything in his power to help him.
But Rob's secret is a dangerous one. There are people out to get him and they will stop at nothing to get him. Even if it means going through those he loves.
Man and Wolf had the potential to be a great story but in the end fell short. Instead it was merely a good story. The action was a bit jerky and I felt that there were several plot threads left dangling with no resolution. There were a lot of sexual scenes in the story and while that's not a problem for me, I happen to like the sex scenes, these felt like they had been added for the oomph factor and did nothing to advance the plot. I don't want it to sound like I didn't like the story, because I did, I just didn't love it. The characters of Jaime and Rob were great. I love dark and tortured characters and I love sweet and caring characters so this book provided both in good measure. The added bonus of picturing Bella and Mutty, the two main dogs, together was quite funny. So if you want a light, uncomplicated read Man and Wolf is a good place to start.
