Running Hot
Running Hot is the first book in the St. Michael's series from Stephani Hecht.

James Willson enjoys his job working as a paramedic. But he has to admit that the best part of his job is when they get to deliver a patient to St. Michael's Hospital. Not because of the excitement of the job, but because Dr. Calvin Dane worked there. For months James has admired the doctor from afar, never thinking that the sexy, but aloof, man would welcome his advances. Then one night everything changed, the two shared an intimate encounter in the back of James' ambulance and now James is lost. He doesn't know what to do or think. Was he just a one-night stand for the doctor or could the handsome doctor return his feelings? James wants to know but if he is just a one off for Calvin he doesn't know if his heart will survive.

Running Hot had me running hot before it was through. Calvin and James are perfect for each other. Working in a hospital I am quite familiar with the staff dynamics normally present. Stephani Hecht did a fantastic job of portraying how doctors are sometimes put on a pedestal and somehow perceived as not having the same emotions as the rest of us. It takes a different breed to work in the direct patient care area of the medical field and Calvin and James are right at home. Both characters were delicious in their own way and when the two came together it was HOT! I'll never look at an ambulance the same way again! My only complaint about the story is the length, it was much too short, I wanted to dig in and stay awhile. Luckily for fans this is not the last visit to St. Michaels, it is but the first of many!
