Through the Red Door
Book two in the Vampires & Mages & Werewolves, Oh My! series.
Seth is on the hunt for the perfect house and thinks he may have found it....except for one small detail. This one has an injured angel, an angel that triggers Seth's protective instincts, an angel that thinks that Seth is human, something that couldn't be further from the truth. Seth is in fact a demon. A demon who suddenly finds himself unable to resist playing guardian to Kyrian and protecting him from another demon that is out to get him.
Kyrian knows that something is haunting his house, he just has no idea what it is. But it's become malicious and after shoving him off the deck and breaking his ankle, Kyrian has had enough. When the strong, handsome Seth shows up Kyrian finds he feels safe and secure. But Seth hints that he is more than he appears and that Kyrian won't be able to accept his true nature. Will Kyrian be able to overcome his beliefs and accept everything that Seth is or will he close the door on him?
This was a very sweet little love story. Like the first story in the series it was infused with a great deal of humor that often left me laughing out loud. I love that the title was apt seeing as how the house has a red door and red is a barrier for demons. It shows Seth's determination that he gets past it in order to gain what he wants. I loved both Seth and Kyrian and the by-play between them kept the story going for me. I did have a few issues with the story, I thought they fell in love very fast and while that is okay with me in some instances, it just felt a bit rushed this time around. I also thought that there were a few details that needed more explaining. Lucifer, for example; I'd really like a better handle on his character. I'm hoping that he might be the subject of a future book in the series. Both books in the series can stand alone but it's a shame to miss out on some quick, yummy reads. If you are looking for something funny and sweet Through the Red Door is sure to hit the spot!
