Stefan Joss is on his way to Texas to be the man of honor in his best friend Charlotte's wedding. A trial in itself due to the heat of a Texas summer, and the fact that we are talking about Texas after all, not a state known for it's gay friendly atmosphere. To make matters worse he has been coerced into a last minute business meeting by his boss to take place in the midst of all the wedding preparations. Resigned to his lot Stefan lifts his chin and makes the best of it, at least until he discovers that Rand, Charlotte's brother and Stefan's mortal enemy, is present despite Charlotte's promises to the contrary. But the when the two call a temporary truce to their constant sniping during the wedding festivities, Stefan is rocked to the core to discover that all that hostility hid an attraction so strong that he is powerless to resist. But when Stefan finds himself in danger from unknown foes their budding relationship will be put to the test and only time will tell if it will survive.

Mary Calmes is an author that I have only recently discovered. All I can say is shame on me for not trying this author sooner. I have ravenously devoured every story I've been able to get my hands on and have yet to read a bad one. Ms. Calmes has a very lyrical prose that manages to be descriptive without being heavy and ostentatious. She imbues each of her characters with an energy that is so vibrant that I can easily visualize, smell, and feel them. Even the minor characters feel real and not just the standard prop character to further a plot point. Timing tops the list of the books I have read by her thus far, and I've read everything she has available to date. Stefan and Rand are spellbinding. The constant pushing of each other's buttons and hostility between them is quite entertaining. I loved the relationship that Stefan and Charlotte have, they have a deep love and friendship that can never be destroyed or replaced, the fact that Rand is her brother and a total tool makes their relationship even more interesting. Add in the fact that Stefan is one of those people that can charm anyone into doing his bidding, all done with the sweetest of intentions mind you, only serves to highlight the inflammatory nature of Rand and Stefan's interactions. It is also readily apparent that the two are a sexual bonfire waiting to happen, just waiting for the right spark to set it off. The erotic scenes were very well written and I thought I was going to have to turn my ereader off a few time just to let it cool down. With each new story and character that Ms. Calmes pens my envy of her talent only grows. I highly recommend Timing to anyone who loves a well-written story with hot loving and fantastic characters!
