Noah Matthews and his son Josh have moved to the woods of Washington State hoping to make a fresh start. But on their first night in their new house Police Chief Kell Farraday shows up searching for two people lost in the forest. The attraction between the two is instant, and Kell decides that he wants to pursue the shy Noah.

But when Noah's former boyfriend shows up and Josh becomes involved in whatever is occurring in the woods, the relationship Kell hopes to pursue becomes more and more unlikely. Can Kell get to the bottom of the mystery in the forest and help Noah overcome his past in order for them to have a future, or will he be overwhelmed and fail?

This is easily my favorite book by far from Ms. Irving. All of the characters are fully fleshed, including the secondary characters. Although there are multiple plot arcs occurring simultaneously Ms. Irving writes in such a way that it never feels crowded or rushed. I loved the developing relationship between Noah and Kell and Josh. There was so much going on there. While Noah and Josh are father and son, they are still struggling to find their way in their relationship. When Kell enters the picture, it changes the dynamics yet again. The mystery in the forest was very intriguing and kept me guessing until the very end. This is one Wylde read!
