Renegade
When Mikayla Martin left her bridal shop early to pick up her kid brother she never expected it to change her life forever. Instead of giving her brother a ride she arrives to his worksite to find him already gone and an up-close view of a man being murdered. Mikayla can't believe her eyes since she knows the man with the gun, but she is relieved to know that the man will go to prison for what he's done because she can testify to what she has seen. Only the man is never arrested for the crime since he swears he's innocent and has an alibi that involves prominent members of the community. Mikayla knows she isn't mistaken about the killer's identity and is determined to find evidence to get him locked up.

Elite Op agent Nikolai Steele always pays his debts, but when an old friend asks for his help in proving he is innocent of murder Nikolai wishes he could walk away from the mess he is sure to get dragged into. Instead Nikolai works to straighten everything out but proving that Mikayla was mistaken is not an option since she is more than sure of what she witnessed and Nikolai is finding it hard to resist her innocent charms.

Renegade is the fifth book in author Lora Leigh's Black Ops series.

Mikayla is a sweet woman whose innocence seems to radiate around her as her strength allows her to stand up for what is right despite the consequences. Her belief in the truth makes her vulnerable to harassment from people who believe she's lying but she never backs down.

Mikayla and Nikolai keep the pages smoldering hot as they work together to get to the truth and as the danger moves in closer their desire comes to a boiling point making for an emotional story that will keep you hanging on until the very end.

I never thought that anything would replace Nathan's story in Wild Card as my favorite but I believe that Nikolai's has just done that. Renegade is an exceptional tale that readers won't want to miss or close once you've read that last page. 5 Angels!
