Slave Auction
Slave Auction by Stormy Glenn is the first book in the Spaced Out for Love series.
Rojan is the captain of his ship and is considered a rogue even amongst his people, the Phangars. Each member of the crew is hand picked and loyal to a fault. Rojan is at slave auction area when he sees a very small and captivating human. Humans are seen as weak and only good for servitude and slavery, but there is something about this particular human, Tyion, that captivates his interest. Before laving, Rojan learns that someone named Skoran is expecting to purchase Tyion and is very displeased when he finds out his prize has alluded him. Rojan quickly realizes that Tyion is much more than his pet, he is his mate and Phangars mate for life. Rojan and Tyion get to the ship in time, but Tyion is about to find out that the galaxy is full of strange and dangerous things. With the help of the ship's doctor, Rojan begins to understand the trauma that Tyion has undergone and hopes to make amends by allowing Tyion to return home for his possessions. Can there be anything between Tyion and Rojan beyond a master/slave relationship? How will Tyion adjust to living outside Earth? Will Skoran have his revenge over losing Tyion to Rojan?
Ms. Glenn has started what looks to be an incredible series with Slave Auction. The character's description brings the story to life for the reader. I was struck by Tyion's situation as what happened to him unfolded in the story. Tyion showed a great deal of courage when he stood up to forces that were obviously stronger and more advanced than him. Doc showed compassion in his understanding of Tyion's feelings and he was part of the reason that Tyion adapted so well. The futuristic instruments added to the feel and depth of the story. In the end, the driving force in the story was the evolving relationship between Rojan and Tyion. I loved how Rojan was the more advanced of the two, but Tyion's importance in the relationship took priority over everything else to Rojan. I can't wait for the next installment in the Spaced Out for Love series.
