Scarlet Blackwell has created a fascinating story that made me question my past failed relationships. At moments, my indecision and failed attempts at love reminded me so much of Kristian I thought Ms. Blackwell wrote this story about me. The story is set in a small town, but primarily takes place in Kristian's home, which helps to keep the focus on the characters. Kristian's inability to voice his desires caused years of heartache for him and his lover. His indifference was truly the only thing standing in the way of him having the love he deserved. Ms. Blackwell's characters have an emotional depth that sucks you into the story. Even if you know Kristian caused his own suffering, you still want to see him happy. Apathy is a story about love, second chances, and learning to control your fears. If you take nothing away from the story you'll remember nothing ventured, nothing gained. Those who need a push to embrace love should definitely read this story.
