Gatekeeper
Gatekeeper by Rayne Auster is an amazing saga spanning two books within this title.
Kaji is the ruler of his world Duiem where the entire world appears to be spinning out of control as the weather continues to deteriorate. Duiem has an ancient legend about the time of the gatekeepers when everyone lived in harmony and the world was at peace. Very few people remember the gatekeepers, but they live in hope that one day their world will become beautiful again. Each ruler of Duiem it is Kaji's place to help his people and the bonding ceremony is his first step until it was interrupted when a young man, Aniol, fell into the bonding circle and their blood made contact completing the ceremony making them mates forever joining their destinies. Aniol is a mystery even to himself. He has no idea where he came from, who his family is, or anything about Duiem culture. Aniol is immediately attracted to Kaji, but his past experiences and abuse make it difficult to trust Kaji. Kaji's attraction and need to keep Aniol safe is overwhelmed by his need to be close to Aniol. As Kaji and Aniol become closer, the situation on Duiem begins to spin out of control, and somehow Aniol is at the very heart of the matter. What is Aniol's past and could the legend of the gatekeepers be involved? Is it possible that the legend about the Land of Gold and the Land of Silver be true? Will Kaji and Aniol find the truth before it is too late?
Ms. Auster has written an incredible tale that takes the reader on an incredible journey that spans two worlds. The mystery behind Aniol and his ultimate destiny ensnares that reader as the plot unfolds. The growing attraction between Kaji and Aniol is strengthened throughout the many difficulties they have to overcome together. The difference in the two worlds and how the gatekeepers kept the worlds stabilized was amazing. The magical components of the story add mystery and wonder to the story. Thanks go to Ms. Auster for an incredible story that will remain one of my favorites.
