A Darker Shade of Midnight
LaShaun Rousselle is coming home to be with her Mommon Odette, for what could be the last few days of her life. Her Mommon raised her from an early age, and trained her in the black arts of voodoo. LaShaun left Louisiana because she was a suspect in a murder case. Before she can make it home, she's stopped for a broken tail light and held for suspicion of possession, but the arresting officer, Chase Broussard, is really hot, so she doesn't mind too much.

When she finally makes it home, she finds out that her relatives are already fighting over Mommon Odette's estate. And things are heating up with Chase. Their affair gets pretty hot, pretty fast. Then a woman is killed and LaShaun is under suspicion again, to no one's surprise.

With Chase wanting to run for sheriff, will he dump LaShaun? Or, stay around and help her solve the case, since she intends to solve the case, because nobody messes with family and gets away with it.

Being from Louisiana myself this book takes me home. I love reading about the strange things that go on there, and how the people believe in all of it. There is mystery, Voodoo, and romance all thrown into this story. Best of all, is that family, while they may not be able to stand each other, will always stand together when things start happening.
