Alwyn needs revenge after coming home to find his wife and unborn child dead, along with most of the servants. He can't let it go and, plans to take from the man who did this to him. Milisent is the prize to be taken. Alwyn knows that she isn't the wife of the Barron but he has information that she's his mistress, and by taking her maybe, he won't anger the King.

Milisent has been hidden away from everyone for years by her brother Chelse, who wants control of her inheritance. Without that control, he will be nothing and the man he's promised her hand in marriage to has agreed to split the fortune with him.

Alwyn and his men invade the keep and steal the prize by throwing Milisent over his shoulder and carrying her away. Milisent can't figure out why she's been taken, unless it's by the man she refused to marry. She soon finds out that the man who's taken her can't be the same one she was promised to because this man has promised not to hurt her and is doing everything in his power to make sure she's comfortable.

By kidnaping Milisent, Alwyn puts both their lives in danger; I give this book 4 Angels and look forward to reading more by Allison Knight. If it's romance and a knight in shining armor you're looking for, then this is the book for you. There's the villain you expect, the woman who finds herself falling in love when she least expects it, and the man willing to give up everything for the sake of love. Great Book!
