Kellar County Cops 1: Marked for Murder
Detective Jonah McKee is tired of seeing women butchered and left for dead. He's been following The Handyman's murders for weeks now and still can't get ahead of him. Somewhere out there, The Handyman is waiting to strike, and Brooke Wilson is the perfect woman for his next victim. Something about Brooke brings out the hidden, protective side of Jonah. As a father, he has to think of his son, but Brooke is making it hard for him to imagine a life without her now. The Handyman is very near, and it's up to Jonah to make sure no one else is killed in his county.

Brooke Wilson has no idea how she ended up in Kellar County but knows someone wants her dead. She doesn't expect a man like Jonah McKee to believe in her but somewhere in her heart, she sees him as a white knight coming to her rescue. All she knows, is the man that left her for dead, isn't finished with the job. They call him The Handyman, but Brooke feels it's someone from her past. As she and Jonah get closer and she starts getting her memory back, she wonders if maybe, it's wrong to remember her past after all.

Melanie Atkins has done it again in a series that is turning out to be quite a suspenseful novel at every chapter. One minute there's a victim that doesn't remember, then a woman trying to prove to everyone else she doesn't remember, even though she is being pushed to remember. I loved how Melanie Atkins created a series that puts you at the edge of your seat, making you guess on every page who the killer really is. Marked for Murder is definitely one roller coaster of a story that will make you wonder how a woman like Brooke can forget and still maintain calm and patience. On every page, I was waiting for her to crack but Melanie Atkins did a great job in showing us that with patience comes a man like Jonah to help things along the way. This was a great book and I can't wait for the second in the series.
