Temperance Smith is a woman down on her luck. She makes her meager living as a pickpocket, after the man she thought was the love of her life was killed, leaving her alone. Temperance chooses the wrong mark to fleece, however, and ends up drawing the interest of a soldier in the very regime that oppresses the people of England. Captain Miles Trevelyan is home on leave from his post in India, and has come to terms with the fact that he needs to find himself a bride. When the lovely Temperance picks his pocket, she gets more than she's bargained for and the two soon find themselves entangled, both romantically and in a dangerous game that threatens to shake the foundations of England. Will Trev emerge heart-whole, or will the attraction bubbling between them steal the day?

Star Crossed Seduction is a Regency historical novel about an officer of England's military and love interest, a gorgeous pickpocket. The author brings astrology into the mix of the story fairly quickly, making the claim that these two characters are perfect for each other due to their astrological signs. In my opinion, there was a bit too much to the plot, as it included spy games, court politics and corruption, as well as the basic love story. Neither Temperance nor Trev were terribly interesting, but I did like them better together than as individuals. The scenes featuring the customs, food and opulence of India were among the best of the book. Three Angels.
