Stripped
Jasmine "Jazz" Wright was having a celebration; her daughter had graduated from college. She was ending a long hard journey of raising a child alone. All her struggling of working two jobs and going back to school to support them was paying off. Her baby had turned into a beautiful woman and she was beaming with pride. Many tequila shots and a few other drinks later, Jasmine was plastered and having a hard time getting home.
Ian Blackwell has loved Jazz since their childhood and when he finds her inebriated, he takes her home to sleep it off. The next morning brings back memories and confessions as Ian admits to her that he has never stopped loving her. Jasmine tells Ian about the child she has raised alone, his child. Ian is hurt and saddened that he has missed out on having a real family and wishes things had been different. Will Jazz and his daughter give him a second chance?
Many women and men are faced with raising their children alone in our society for many different reasons. The journey is usually hard and long. It takes a strong, determined and resourceful person to raise a child alone. This story demonstrates that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and that single parent families can be successful. It was refreshing to see the hero in this story eagerly wanting to step up and be a part of his daughter's life.
