The Unquiet
The Unquiet is a five-story anthology featuring romance, suspense, mystery and the supernatural.

The first story is Chaos in Death by J.D. Robb. When three people are brutally slaughtered in an abandoned building, Lieutenant Eve Dallas and her partner Peabody are called in to investigate. They soon learn that the murder victims all connect back to the exclusive Whitwood Group and two dedicated, talented doctors determined to help those with addictions. As the case heats up, they learn that the monster responsible for the heinous murders may be exactly that, a monster.

This quick moving, easy flowing story was a perfect start to this anthology. I love the In Death series and the only thing better than a full-length In Death novel is a short-story that gives us a small glimpse into the lives of Eve and Roarke while watching Eve take down another bad guy.

The second story Her Greatest Treasure by Mary Blayney is the tale of Lydia Chernov's greatest treasure. When Alexei Chernov gave Lydia a necklace with a coin attached, he told her to wear it for him and that it'd be her greatest treasure. Lydia never expected that it would be the last time she sees Alexei or that soon after his death someone would come looking for her, intent on having her greatest treasure. Lydia is saved from an attack by a well-dressed gentleman named Chase but wonders if he could also be involved in the plot to rob her.

Her Greatest Treasure is a charming, magical tale that combines mystery with a ghostly whisper of "wish" and a woman's growing desire for something she's never had into a captivating story that is a delight to read.

Story number three is Dear One by Patricia Gaffney. When Oliver Worth discovers that his grandfather has ran up his credit card bill by calling a psychic, he demands that his grandfather never call back and calls the psychic to requests that she not take any more of his grandfather's calls. Feeling a connection to the psychic, soon Oliver finds himself making calls to the psychic while pretending to be someone he's not, while his grandfather is secretly meeting the psychic in person.

Dear One is a warm, comical story that is easy to follow despite the multiple personas that a few of the characters use. The characters are charming, intriguing and likable, making for a great read.

The fourth story in this novel is The Unforgiven by Ruth Ryan Langan. When Brianna Kerr learned of her late husband's deception and mountain of debts, she traveled to his abandoned family estate Ravenswood, in the hopes of turning the Scotland manor house into an upscale inn that would bring in money to help pay the creditors. When she arrives, she discovers that the angry ghost of Laird Jamie Kerr is in no way happy to have anyone disturbing him.

The Unforgiven is an enchanting, heartwarming tale. Brianna's determination to do whatever she needs to do in order to protect her future is no match for a vengeful ghost. The sharing of heartbreak and bond of understanding turns into a beautiful tale of love, with a twist.

The final story in this anthology is His Brother's Keeper by Mary Kay McComas. For months, Ivy Bonner has been having the same dreams, leaving her restless and unable to focus on writing her Patty Ann Pettigrew children's series. Needing a break, Ivy's mother arranges for her to spend the summer at a friend's cabin. But Ivy's plans to relax and write are lost when she has to deal with a ghost wanting to ease the guilt of his brother, Ivy's handsome neighbor, Craig.

His Brother's Keeper is an appealing, emotional tale that offers humor, a budding romance and the need of a young man to put his brother at ease. This short, sweet story might mark the end of the book, but I wasn't ready for it to end. I wanted to keep reading.

These five, suspenseful stories maintain the Unquiet theme throughout, seamlessly flowing from one great tale to the next. With so much talent packed between the covers, readers just can't go wrong by picking up a copy of The Unquiet. 5 Angels!
