Convincing Landon
Convincing Landon by Serena Yates is the seventh book in the Men of Riverside series.

Landon returns early from his high school graduation rehearsal to find his younger brother Greg, being beaten by their older brother Ray. Landon realizes that he can't go off to college and leave Greg to fend for himself, so his plans are set aside to stay home and work on the farm while keeping Greg safe. Years later, Greg is all set in his career and determined that Landon will finally get his chance. Landon goes to meet Greg at their old high school where he works, and sees the most beautiful young man, Kendall, but he knows Kendall is way too young for him. Kendall notices Landon immediately since he's the combination of every fantasy he's ever had, but it's not to be since he's still in high school. When Kendall is in college, he unexpectedly runs into Landon again. They hit it off; having a night to remember then Landon gets cold feet, leaving Kendall with memories and a broken heart.

Seven years later, Kendall hasn't gotten past his lost love and has buried himself in his work, leaving no time for a personal life. When Landon returns home for his father's funeral, he runs into Kendall and, to their surprise, the attraction between them is just as strong as ever. Is Kendall willing to trust Landon and put his heart on the line one more time?

This story opens the eyes of the reader, helping them to understand the inequity of our society when dealing with the poor. Kendall's employer was willing to do anything he had to, to win the contract, even to the detriment of the needy in his community. Many people fund and support organization like Promises Kept, where Landon worked to help homeless children find a safe place to live and hope for the future. It was absorbing to read how Kendall's eyes were opened to what his boss was willing to do, making him choose the direction of his life. I loved how Kendall's friends came together to support Landon in building the community center. It was lovely experiencing the reawakening of Landon and Kendall's love as they worked together to build their lives, while helping the people around them create a better society.
