Mate Test
Mate Test by Amber Kell is the second book in the Dragon Men series.

Torrance Zelan was sent to Dragait to gain the rare minerals his people need for the warp drives in their space ships since Dragait is one of the few planets where the minerals are available. Tor has a very resourceful staff that assist him with the things he isn't capable of doing. Tor was dragon-bonded as a child to a space dragon, Baroy, which gives him incredible abilities like seeing everything that Baroy sees, but leaves him blind to his surroundings. When Tor arrives at King Naron castle, he learns that he isn't there just to obtain an agreement for the minerals, but also for a consort competition that his uncle signed him up for. Tor is very attracted to Naron, but he is still grieving for his death lover Larien, and he isn't sure if he even wants a mate. For the first time in his life, Naron's dragon begins to emerge when he sees Tor, demanding to take its mate. As the competition begins, Tor has to decide whether to live in the past or to grab onto the future that Baroy has told him is his destiny. Can Naron accept Tor's past and all of its implications?

Mate Test continues Ms. Kell's incredible Dragon Men series with this story that picks up where the first book ended. It was fascinating how Tor and his space dragon, Baroy, were psychically linked and shared thoughts and feelings. I can't imagine what it would feel like to experience space like one of the creatures that lives there. To be, basically, blind while having those abilities would be a challenge to live with. I've always loved dragons and the author's visual descriptions brought them to life for me. Even with all of his power, Naron followed through with the mate test when he knew Tor was his mate, giving the other men a fair chance. It was extraordinary reading about Baroy's almost magical abilities and his loyalty to Tor. The love between Tor and Naron was delightful to read, as they began to learn about each other.
