Once again, Stride saved Zero from a trap set up by his mother, the Vampire Queen, who is determined to gain control of Stride in her bid for absolute power. Stride has taken Zero as his blood slave, but Zero wants to be more than just a meal to him; he wants Stride's love. On the planet Nibiru, nothing is out of the realm of possibility and Stride's mother can bring any nightmare you can think of to life. A new twist is added to the mix when Zero's dead human lover Daken returns. Stride knows that somehow, this is a trick from his mother, but Zero is happy to see him until Daken and Stride butt heads over control of Zero. Zero can't forget his feelings for Stride when Daken tries to renew their relationship, causing friction between them. Whom will Zero choose? Is Daken's return real or just a cruel trick? Will Stride and Zero survive?

I'm fascinated by all the crazy and unexpected situations that Zero and Stride find themselves in, but I never imagined the conflict that occurred with Daken's return. I can't imagine how Zero felt and the inner conflict he went through while having to choose who was more important to him and if Daken was alive or just a callus hoax. It was telling how Stride reacted to Zero's inner conflict as he watched the reunion as it unfolded. The battle isn't over yet as Zero and Stride must fight to tell the difference between reality and fantasy while they struggle to stay alive.
