Dark Oracle
Tara Sheridan is a criminal profiler, who uses tarot cards to help her. Tara is awakened by someone knocking on her door. Who in their right mind would be knocking in the middle of the night? It is Sophia, a friend of Tara. Sophia belongs to a secret society known as Delphi Daughters. Tara's late mother used to belong to the society.

The Delphi Daughters want Tara to locate a missing person. The person is Lowell Magnusson, who works as a quantum physicist. Lowell was working on some powerful technology and if fallen into the wrong hands, it could mean devastation.

Tara ends up getting paired up with Agent Harry Li from the Special Projects Division. Agent Li is abrasive and by the books type of guy. Agent Li and Tara soon realize that someone does not appreciate them sticking their noses where they do not belong.

Dark Oracle is book one of the Delphic Oracle series. I found Tara to be full of surprises. She is good at her job. The element of her using tarot cards to help her was fascinating. Agent Li grew on me by the end of the book. He may have been tough but that is what I liked about him. He and Tara worked harmoniously together for the most part. There is quite a bit of action that I was not expecting. This made for a quick read. I am a fan of Laura Bickle but I have to say that as Alayna Williams, I like her work as well.
