Doctor McBride
Emma Binns realizes it has been ten long years, and only two kisses, since she has been chasing Jake McBride; yet her heart still holds his love tightly in its reins. She would like nothing more than to become his wife, but when he continues to look the other way; she has no idea how to get him to give her a chance. She was certain six years ago that she would get the opportunity until something happened and her chance flew away once again. Doctor Jake McBride cares deeply for Emma. He was ready to put a ring on her finger and make her his bride until her father and brothers insisted he stay away from Emma. He hasn't forgotten that one powerful kiss that her father and brothers witnessed; putting a stop to any marriage he wanted with Emma. Now all these years later, every time he sees her she sends fire throughout his body. He only wishes to be with her and not Abigail Christenson, who will stop at nothing to get him to tie the knot. When Jake learns the truth about that one night six years ago, he and Emma's father decide it's time to right the wrong. Can Jake make it right with Emma without Abigail trying to get in the way or will Abigail be the one to tie down Jake for life?
Doctor McBride is a breathtaking, witty story that this reader enjoyed immensely. Emma and Jake are refreshing characters and play their part quite well. I found them endearing, as they care deeply about things in life. They are good, down-to-earth people and that's why I think this story is so likeable. I love the episode when Jake is talking to Emma's father. I could get a good visual of the two speaking. Abigail was painted quite well, and is indeed a hoot, especially when she encounters Jake or Emma. There were some light-hearted moments that really stood out in this magnificent tale. Lauri Robinson indeed creates remarkable characters that leave a lasting impression and makes the storyline come alive. This reader found this story positively a gem.
