Hooked
Annie Grant has followed Luke Carpenters rodeo career all her life. She is not stalking him but feels a connection with him. As an on-air interviewer, she has interviewed him tons of time but something about this year feels different for her. Annie knows that bull riding is his life and he looks at home on a bull. So it comes as a surprise that one moment in his life changes his whole outlook. She knows the attraction is there but she wants more than just sex from him. People tell her that he is still hooked on his ex but she knows differently. The kisses and passion they share are beyond her imagination. Can Annie keep Luke in her life or will the ex win him back?
Luke Carpenter loves his job. Many people think he's crazy to risk his life but those eight seconds on a bull is a thrill he loves experiencing each time. Well that's what he thought until his night with Annie Grant. He knew her because of the interviews but now he can't stand being away from her. Just when he thinks life can be better, tragedy strikes and now he is torn. Annie is the only good thing in his life but he is torn about succeeding and fulfilling his father's dream of him. Can he survive a year without his Annie? Will she ever forgive him?
This is the first book I have read from Cat Johnson and it won't be the last. I loved the whole setting with the pro bull riding career and the excitement behind scenes. Cat Johnson did a great job in showing us a man who has been bull riding his whole life experience a conflict he never thought would happen in his life. Now Annie is definitely a woman who is not afraid to love but has doubts like everybody else. These two give strength to one another yet when things get tough they see they belong together. I loved the whole aspect of seeing Luke struggle to make the right decision even though deep inside he knows where he really belongs. The story line just went smoothly, making me root for Annie to keep her job and her man. I loved it.
