Heart Sent Christmas
Sylvia Hewlitt doesn't wish to spend Christmas alone any longer. She wants to enjoy life again. It's been a year since her husband's death where she learned too quickly of his deceit and lies. She still recalled the police lieutenant who'd broken the disturbing news to her. Sylvia decides to head to a ski lodge in North Carolina to do some skiing, never expecting to run into Stephan Breslow. The year had been too long for Stephan but one glance at the woman, and his feelings for her are still there. When there is an explosion with her SUV, Stephan is there to take care of her. Has fate brought the two together this Christmas season, or is it just a coincidence?
Heide Katros pens a story that this reader bonded with in Second Chances. I certainly felt the chemistry simmer between Sylvia and Stephan that was truly breathtaking. The ending definitely left this reader with a jubilant feeling inside.
Luca Alessandro Assante, Marchese di Montevarchi is trying to accept the fact that his fiancé has walked out on him, not wishing to marry. It was a simple mistake, one that he could rectify, yet he doesn't know if that will happen, until he sees her at the hotel where he is staying. Crista Ballantyne is on the way to visit her aunt but when she stops for a room, only to learn there is no vacancy. Luca happens to see her and suggest she stay in his extra room with its own personal bed and bath. Crista agrees even though there is still a slight connection with them. Luca wanted things to work out between them, but how can they when he grows jealous when any other man speaks to her? Without trust, there is no reason to commit to any relationship. It's Christmas and as the two begin to feel that love again, will the marriage go as planned or will something arise that could turn deadly?
Christmas Magic is a most enjoyable turn of events. Kate Hofman creates memorable characters that permit the reader to feel the reunion right along with the players. This reader was carried to a lovely setting of a feel good story that gives hope that love can indeed be found again.
Julianne Porter feels let down, living in a wilderness with only her mother, and no man for protection. When Ethan Knows the Way comes to their home seeking medicine from them, Julianne feels unsafe from the Lakota Indian. Her mother assures there is nothing to fear; still his presence unsettles her. He's forbidden, not only because he is a man, but an Indian. Julianne does find him intriguing. Ethan knows the trip is dangerous but his nephew needs the medicines, and Julianne and her mother wish to accompany him. There is an ache in her heart that begins to grow for him, as well as the children, when they arrive. She even wonders what she and her mother can give the children for Christmas. In a world with two different cultures, can Julianne and Ethan find that common ground to be accepted by both families?
Lakota Christmas is genuinely heartwarming. I enjoyed how the characters were learning of the others' customs and how the learning experience deepened their closeness. Diane Davis White is a wonderful artist that touches upon the reader, permitting them to feel the excitement, sadness and happiness that comes within the story. It sends thrills throughout, with a ray of sunshine; it's an inspiring read that will not be forgotten.
This collection of stories is like a warm blanket on a cold winter's night, once you snuggle up to them, they are unforgettable and extremely hard to release. Heart Sent Christmas has great storytellers with wonderful words to be treasured always.
