Broken Promises
It's been six months since she laid eyes on him, six months since she last kissed him, but the passion is still there. Seeing him again is bringing back all the heartache she experienced because of one FBI agent. Alex MacGregor was the one man who got past her wall of insecurities and now she needs his help. As friends go, Bette Smithson doesn't have any, but Alex's sister is the only one who really knows her. Bette has no idea who kidnapped her and why they want to harm Alex's family. The only thing Bette knows is she can't go another day without Alex. Together these two have lots of things to go over but Alex keeps hiding his real feelings towards her. Can Bette get past Alex without risking her heart again?
FBI Agent Alex MacGregor is good at his job and won't do anything stupid to risk his career. Yet six months ago, he forgot about his career and made false promises to a woman. Not just any woman, but Bette Smithson, the only woman who has ever gotten under his skin with just one kiss. He's not sure who is after his family, but one thing for sure, they know all about his past regrets. Seeing Bette again is bringing back all the feelings he thought were safely guarded until he kissed her again. Someone wants to hurt him again and knows how to do it right. His sister has never hurt anybody and having her kidnapped is a mystery to him. Can he find his sister without risking his heart to Bette again?
Marie-Nicole Ryan has a flair of bringing romance to life, even when it's six months too late. Bette knew Alex was trouble with the first kiss, but the kisses six months later proves she has never forgotten about him. Kidnappings and betrayal in the book make Broken Promises a great treat to read, for there is more than just betrayal and romance in the book. I loved that Marie-Nicole Ryan did a great job in showing how confused Alex is about his love towards Bette. There were some funny scenes as well as lots of things he has to make up with Bette. All in all, it was a great book, but I would've loved if it would've been a little bit longer. Great job!
