My Wicked Little Lies
Evelyn Hadley-Attwater, the Countess of Waterston, has given up much for her husband. She had a very exciting life as an operative for the British government, a life of challenge and intrigue, but she set all that aside when she married. Now, two years wed, she's once again given an opportunity to walk on the wild side as a spy when a list containing the names of every one of the Crown's operatives is stolen. The fact that she has to lie to her husband by omission bothers her, but she feels a duty to her country that she cannot deny. Furthermore, her supervisor in the spy games, known only to her as "Sir" reappears to try to kindle the sparks that once existed between them.

Adrian Hadley-Attwater, the Earl of Waterston, has a wonderful life and a gorgeous wife. He's content, albeit a bit settled in his comfortable existence. His wife appears unfocused and distracted as of late, and he figures out why when he contacts an old acquaintance at the Department of Domestic and International Affairs. Adrian decides once again to become the mysterious "Sir". When faced with a choice, will Evelyn choose her husband or his alter ego?

My Wicked Little Lies is a madcap frolic through the high-stakes world of spying and shows how half-truths count as whole lies when trust is on the line. Evelyn and Adrian are striving for contentment (which they already have), but find their happy marriage stirred up when Adrian's mistrust of her comes to light. Hilariously, Evelyn takes her revenge in the most delicious of ways, and Victoria Alexander masterfully and convincingly shows us how smart women should get even. Secondary characters were most engaging; Lady Dunwell was oh-so-naughty in a charming way, and the Max/Celeste romance added a bit of spice to the tale. The conclusion of this book was one of the most entertaining I've read recently; readers will find themselves rooting for this couple's happy ending. Five Angels!
