The Very Virile Viking
Magnus Ericsson is a man of power and position among his clansmen. He's a respected warrior and a talented farmer. He is also amazingly virile, having at current count, eleven living children. He's also in a rut of bedding willing women and making still more children, so he decides upon a change: celibacy. Magnus decides to take the majority of his brood and set out to look for his brothers, who were lost at sea, and finds himself in the twenty-first century on a Hollywood movie lot, where he meets the delectable Angela Abruzzi.
Angela Abruzzi is the only grandchild of her beloved grandmother, Rose, and the heir to the Blue Dragon vineyard. The vineyard has seen its share of money troubles and mishaps lately, and Angela's high-powered job as a realtor is the only thing keeping the Blue Dragon afloat, albeit barely so. When confronted with a time-traveling Viking and his brood of children, she is coerced into taking them home in exchange for a producer's promise to pay to use the vineyard as a movie set. Her life is taken over by the oddball group of fish out of water, and soon she comes to desire Magnus deeply. Can she accept the truth of who and what he is and manage to save the vineyard?
A Very Virile Viking is a terrific time-traveling tale of passion, family and home. And it's not all serious stuff, either; this is one funny book. I thoroughly enjoyed the antics and misunderstandings sprinkled liberally throughout the story, and watching tenth-century Magnus find his bearings in present-day America was vastly entertaining. The love story here is pretty amusing and spicy as well, with Magnus educating Angela as to just how a Viking likes to please his woman. Rose was a wonderful character, full of life and zest, and pretty dang spry for a woman of her age, and the children were constantly making me laugh throughout the story. A Very Virile Viking was charming without being smarmy and it was just a fun, funny and zippy ride. Fans of Ms. Hill's Viking series and those new to the series, will appreciate this book. Five Angels!
