Marlena is a fighter, she has clawed her way through life and isn't afraid to work for what she wants. She picked herself up after a past heartbreak, got her GED and moved on with life. She's a fitness instructor and has created an exercise regimen of dance and aerobics that she calls Rumble Booty. Her classes are becoming more popular but in a small town, there is only so much room for growth. Although her finances are very tight, she is happy. That is, until her past walks back into her present.

Evan Scott has returned to town and is looking to get Marlena back, his past love. She carries a lot of pain in her heart but Evan is determined to kiss it all away, if she will let him. Marlena is involved with someone else and refuses all of Evan's advances. When he starts dating someone else, Marlena realizes that her heart still belongs to Evan. Now it is her turn to ask for forgiveness and hope for her happily ever after.

The Firefighter's Woman is an excellent love story. We all can remember our first love and our first heartbreak. Sometimes life gives us the opportunity to rekindle that first love. When the heart finds love, no matter how we deny it or try to run from it, the heart will still hold on. I really enjoyed this story and have recommended it to fellow readers. This is a story you will want to read more than once.
