A Nanny for Nate
A Nanny for Nate by Lisa Worrall is a contemporary homoerotic romance.
Parker and Nate's lives changed overnight when Parker's partner, Darren, died, leaving their family incomplete. It's difficult for Parker to explain to a seven year old that he has to work while taking Nate to Ellie's until he gets home. Nate was used to a stay-at-home parent and even though he likes Mrs. Harper, he would rather be home. Ellie knows that things are difficult at home and when she tells Parker that she is going to live with her daughter, he is shocked, but not as much as what she proposes. Ellie has scheduled interviews for a live in nanny that afternoon, all Parker has to do is agree to see them. Parker is outside with Nate when he sees the most handsome man, Jake Walsh, who happens to be the last person on the list, and a favorite of Ellie's. Nate immediately takes a liking to Jake, but Parker feels guilty about his interest in the man and decides it's safer to offer the job to one of the women. Unknown to him, Nate switches the letters so Jake was offered the position and Parker is stunned when Jake arrives with luggage in hand. Jake immediately fills the emptiness in their lives, but can Parker accept the second chance at love that life has given him?
This story was riot from the very start. Nate's loving, happy, very strong personality grabbed me immediately, and it was hysterical how he copied he father's glare perfectly, much to Parker's amusement. I loved how Nate took matters into his own hands so Jake would be his nanny, but I think he hoped from the beginning that Jake would come to mean more to Parker than just an employee. Parker's feeling of guilt when he was attracted to Jake was understandable, but life goes on after a loved one dies and most people would want the one left behind to be happy. Jake's acceptance of the situation and encouragement to keep Darren in Parker and Nate's lives showed what a loving and considerate person he was. This is one book that I'll never forget.
