Nanny Dearest
Nanny Dearest by Shawn Bailey is a contemporary homoerotic romance.
Hunter Monroe is at the end of his rope. Raising his one-and-a-half-year-old son, Chase, is hard enough, but when his last nanny left without any notice things got out of control. Hunter has been sending Chase to a daycare center but he wants a nanny who can dedicate all her time to Chase. Hunter is waiting for the babysitter from an agency to show up because he has to get to work making his movie star clients beautiful for the awards ceremony and she is thirty minutes late. Hunter's friend Adam calls and sets him up with a babysitter for the night. Expecting a woman, Hunter is stunned when the most beautiful man, Terry Rayburn, arrives and for once Chase takes an immediate liking to him. Chase usually acts up, but he falls asleep instantly in Terry's arms. Hunter is more than just attracted to Terry and isn't surprised when Adam admits he sent Terry to see if he would be interested in him. Hunter is understandably upset when he learns his wife's parents have started a custody fight for Chase because they feel it was his fault when she died. His lawyer told him to hire a nanny fast, but the applicants leave much to be desired until Terry arrives and accepts the position. Will Hunter and Terry find they have more in common than just their love for Chase?
This is one of the funniest and heartwarming stories I have ever read. Little children are wonderful in their own right, but Chase's feisty, stubborn behavior was hysterical. His insistence in calling Terry mama and becoming a little angel when Terry was around was unbelievable. I could understand why Hunter was almost jealous when Chase spoke for the first time when he saw Terry, but any parent would feel that way. I for one would love to find out what Chase would be like as a teenager because if he is that headstrong what will he be like when he grows up? It was wonderful to experience Terry coming to terms with his feelings for Hunter and then making his move to see if the attraction he felt was mutual and it was. Like most parents, Hunter didn't think beyond Chase's needs, but when Terry entered their lives, whole new worlds of possibilities opened up for him if he was willing to give love a second chance.
